Like me, I’m sure you’re always looking for more confidence and little less stress.
But confidence seems like it’s something you have or you don’t and lowering stress seems to take at least 15 minutes of meditation or 30 minutes of yoga that we don’t have right now.
What if you could stand around posing as Wonder Women or Super Man to increase your confidence and lower stress? How crazy does that sound?
Well, it’s true and it only takes two minutes. I know it’s true because Shonda Rhimes spends two minutes of her time doing it…and there is a Ted Talk.

Shonda Rhimes Power Poses In Elevators. For real!
[/feature_box]
I would just like to say that as of yet, I have never met Shonda in person.
So how do I know she power poses in elevators? Because she said so in her awesome book Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person.
Listening to her audiobook in the car, is where I first heard anyone ever talk about power posing actually being a thing. Her book is an awesome read or in my case, an awesome listen. Who has time to read anymore?
I know, you are reading this right now, but I meant like huge books, not blog posts. I still read blog posts and so do you apparently. 🙂
How would you like to be perceived in a more favorable light? To be perceived as being more confident, more of a leader, more sure of yourself.
Or, forget about how others see you, how would you just like to feel more confident and more sure of yourself.
It’s called power posing. And it’s awesome because you get to stand around, in the privacy of your home of course, pretending you are Wonder Woman or Superman, cape and all.
You take your powerful superhero stance, put your chin up, pretend your cape is blowing in the wind behind you, let your super human energy run through you. Do it for 2 minutes. Guess what, you’re done.
You have raised your testosterone and lowered your stress hormone, cortisol. You feel more confident, more relaxed and others will feel it too.

- Increased confidence
- Increased testosterone
- Decreased stress hormone cortisol

The challenges and tasks you have to do today will feel easier, more actionable. All it takes is 2 minutes.
And it’s totally backed by science, for real, watch the Ted Talk.
Practice your power poses, get your kids to practice their power poses.
There is no down side to walking around in your home as a superhero, especially with all the positive effects on your performance, the way you feel about yourself and the way you come across to others, the rest of the day.
My 6 year old daughter has a choir performance tomorrow for Remembrance Day, you can be sure, right before we leave for school, we’ll be standing together practicing our super hero poses.
For something so simple and easy why not give yourself the edge.
We’ve actually been doing these power poses with our 4 year old heart warrior for quite some time now.
Power of pretending to be a super hero has been well known for a long time, when it comes to little kids suffering through illnesses. It’s funny we didn’t think to apply it to ourselves.
If you have or know a heart warrior who needs a cape, visit HeartHeroes.org.
If you need a cape, and we all do, check out Super Fly Kids.com. This is not an affiliate link. And I haven’t ordered form them yet. But I like the idea that they to give capes to kids suffering illnesses.
So it’s time to do your poses. Just try it, trust me. This is an easy way to improve the quality of your life by one percent.
Get moving, to get doing.
Let me know how it goes.
