Are you tired of being bombarded with these so called positive images reminding you to be awesome. To not settle for average, to be great!
All the self improvement books and websites on how to make your life better.
How to be happier, healthier and more productive.
How to be better at work, better at home, better at life, better with your spouse, better with your kids, better with yourself.
Cause if you’re average you suck and clearly need help.
When did it become so bad to be average?
Average is the average. Most people are average by definition. Most people have to be average, it’s just the way it works.
Should the majority of us be looking towards self improvement resources to pull ourselves out of this averageness hole?
I know this might sound odd coming from a site called The One Percent. A site that has the words, “You’re not here to be average, you’re here to be awesome”, as it’s YouTube header.
But I’m here to say that being average is awesome, and we need to embrace and except our average awesomeness.
And in a weird crazy kind of backwardsness (I know, I’m just making up a bunch of words), once we embrace and accept that we will most likely forever be average, in most things in life, we become free to live, and let our awesomeness shine.
And if you want to do something, then do it. Don’t do it to be great, don’t do it to be better then the next guy, do it because you enjoy it, you enjoy the process, you enjoy it even if you suck at it, even if your average at it.
Do it without trying to get anywhere, and then see where you go.
Life is to short to consistently be focused on getting better. Just do. And love it.
You and I will most likely be average in our doing of most things and that’s how it’s supposed to be and that is perfectly awesome.
I don’t know where the idea came from that average was bad, but it’s time to change that.
I hope you enjoy this average writing with below average grammar. 🙂
